Curriculum Overview

Pathways

The Course:

Year 9 Japanese Semester 1 and Semester 2 are different subjects. They continue on directly from Year 8 Japanese. If choosing to do Year 9 Japanese Semester Two without first completing Year 9 Japanese Semester 1, you will be required to sit a proficiency test.

The topics in this unit include: daily routine & leisure activities, medicine, food and travel & transport. You will also learn how to describe things, elements of conversation, numbers to 10,000, months and weekend activities.

Again, you will be combining language learning and culture and using the language in everyday situations. You will frequently use your computers, both in class and for homework.

Learning and Assessment Activities

You will be required to demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary and grammar through:

• Class work & Homework
• Tests and Exam

You will also be required to demonstrate your ability to speak the language in

• Speeches 
• Dialogues
• Recordings

These units lead to

Year 10 Japanese and ultimately VCE Japanese
