The Course:

This course is designed for mature, top performing students who are industrious, committed to success, and intend to study higher levels of mathematics in VCE. It follows on directly from Year 8 Standard Maths and provides instruction in a wide range of general mathematical concepts, with strong foci in the Structure and Working Mathematically dimensions. This course recognises that some students achieve the essential standards of learning at a more rapid pace than others. Major topics of study include: Pythagoras’ Theorem; Linear and Quadratic Algebra; Index laws; Simultaneous Equations; Trigonometry; Geometry and Statistics.

Measurement of student progress towards the Standard in each dimension is an ongoing process that includes, but is not limited to:

This subject is designed for students who enjoy a challenge in Mathematics. This is also designed for students who want to  study Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics at VCE.
