This course is designed for the majority of year 9 students. It follows on directly from Year 8 Standard Maths and Hands on Learning Numeracy, and provides instruction in a wide range of general mathematical concepts, with strong focus in the Number, Algebra, Measurement, Geometry, Statistics and Probability. This course recognizes that students may be working towards level 9 from a variety of starting points and that each student presents with different learning styles, study skills and general interests. Major topics of study include computation, Pythagoras' Theorem, algebra, geometry, linear relations and statistics.
Measurement of student progress towards the standard in each dimension is an ongoing process that includes, but is not limited to
This subject usually leads to year 10 standard maths, but year 10 methods is still a pathway option.
