This unit aims to teach students safe and enjoyable uses of our natural environment. The course focuses on outdoor recreation, placing participants in direct contact with the elements and covers such topics and activities as bushwalking, campfire cooking, conservation issues, initiatives, abseiling, rope courses, rafting and navigation/orienteering. Depending on avaliability this unit has up to two overnight camps and a day trip.
Please note: The camps are mandatory as it forms part of the assessment for the Unit
giving students the hard skills of being in the outdoors while also looking at elements of teamwork and personal development. It will set them up to be involved in VCE OED
