The Course:

This program will prepare students for any VCE Mathematics course. In particular, the Year 11 Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics courses. The work covered will be from the following areas: Algebra, Number, Measurement, Geometry, Probability and Statistics. Topics will be extended to challenge students and Year 11 Mathematics content will be integrated into the course.  The use of learning technology, specifically the use of CAS calculators, is also integrated into the program.

Learning and Assessment Activities

Measurement of student progress towards the Standard in each dimension is an ongoing process that includes, but is not limited to: 
* Textbook Exercises
* Homework Tasks 
* CAS Investigations
* Problem Solving Tasks
* Tests and Exams

Special considerations

Costs involved

  • Cambridge Year 10 Mathematics Textbook  for the Victorian Curriculum (approx $70)
  • Casio ClassPad CAS Calculator (approx $240 new, as little as $50 second hand - will also be a requirement for all VCE Mathematics)
  • Casio Scientific Calculator - retain from previous year (approx $30)
  • 128 page Exercise book (x3)
