Pathways

The Course:

It is the Science course for you if ....

• You have found Science in previous years very difficult
• You did Yr 8 Hands on Learning and/or Yr 9 Pre-App and missed out on some science learning
• You need Year 10 Science to keep your future career options open (eg you might want to apply for a technical position in one of the Australian Defence Forces)
• This course covers the same content as the regular Year 10 program but with more support for students. Students will need to do additional practice to catch up to the regular year 10 program. 

 

This unit will focus on...

You will learn about the main areas of Science including Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Learning and Assessment Activities

This is a practical subject based on doing experiments, practical activities and research assignments.

This subject does not lead onto any of the VCE Sciences.

Special considerations

Admission into Applied Science will not be open to everyone. Students eligible to select this subject will be identified based on previous results in Science classes and in consultation with their Science teachers.

Students taking this subject will do so in place of the standard core subject, 10 Science.

Students will not be permitted to take this subject in addition to core 10 Science.

Costs involved

Possible excursion - approx $20

Materials required

No textbook is required for this subject.

Students must supply basic stationery including an exercise book, pens, pencils, ruler and calculator.
