Mathematical Methods (CAS) Units 3 and 4 may be taken alone or in conjunction with either Specialist Mathematics Units 3 and 4 or Further Mathematics Units 3 and 4.
This course includes the following areas of study: Functions and graphs, Calculus, Algebra and Probability. Students study applications of differentiation, and identifying and analysing key features of the functions and their graphs, random variables, discrete and continuous probability distributions and their applications. The Calculus area of study includes differentiation, integration, the relation between integration and the area of regions and simple applications. This course employs Computer Algebra System Technology to support instruction, and students must be able to work by hand and with the aid of technology as appropriate
