The Course:

Students use the Design Process to investigate, design and create their own fashion garments. They investigate various construction techniques, fabric suitability and cutting conventions. Students will have the opportunity to manipulate and adjust patterns or pre-loved garments to develop their own designs. They investigate past, current and possible future trends for fashion. Design development will be recorded in a Design Folio along with notes and research materials. Students will refine their skills in the use of various machines and technology. The course is broken down into 75% practical and 25% theory.

  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate a Design Brief
  • Working independently or in teams
  • Ability to complete all set tasks on time.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge in garment construction techniques
